 Show Results with Critiques

It was a pleasure to judge this beautiful breed and it is pleasing to see that the overall quality of the breed has improved since the last time I judged them. Heads have improved and are more consistent with the desired broad flat skull and well developed cheeks being in the majority. The eye shape and colour has improved as in the past the expression has been lost by large round shaped eyes. However, some dogs are a little ‘well nourished ‘ and have wide fronts and loose elbows. The whole world knows I love black & tans but keep an eye on the markings! The other concern was weak hocks on a small minority of otherwise beautiful dogs. The standard was high and I am confident the breed is in safe hands.

MINOR PUPPY DOG (2)

1. Marilouvale Black Knight

   Beautiful Black & Tan puppy, lovely front assembly and outline. Strong top line and tail carriage, good feet. Strong hocks, correct upper thigh, sound. Quite sharp in features but very much a baby and will no doubt develop with maturity. Lovely baby.

2. Pluto Iz Grada Kartauzh (IMP)

   Red sesame puppy dog with lovely head, good eye shape and colour, good pigment, good coat. Preferred the front of (1). Little anxious on the day but I’m sure he will learn to settle.

PUPPY DOG (2,1A)

1. Marilouvale Black Raven - BPD

   More mature litter brother to MPD, stronger in the head, lovely outline, strong neck flowing into well set ears, lovely eye shape, colour and pigment. Well developed for age, preferred front assembly of litter brother at this stage, but liked the overall outline, balance and breed type of this baby.

JUNIOR DOG (4)

1. Bearpark Galicia

   17 month red male with good coat. Lovely breed type with typical Shiba expression. Good pigmentation. Good front, tight elbows with good forearm and correct pasterns. Good withers, strong top line, strong thigh and hocks. Sound.

2. Vormund Michael Jordan

   Correctly marked Black & Tan male with good coat. Exquisite outline with typical head and expression. Lovely top and underlines. Lovely shoulders and wither with correct spring of rib. Loved him and interested to see how he matures.

1. Tiblha Im A Conkarah

   3 years old Black & Tan. Shoulder angulation a little back which spoilt his top line. Rear angulation correct with good tail set, a little over handled which interferes with his overall outline. Moved soundly.

MID LIMIT DOG (2)

1. Shiomaru Raion at Marilouvale (IMP)

   Red dog with good coat but starting to moult. Nice overall type with pleasing head, nice eye and expression. Nice front assembly and forearm but feet could be tighter. Strong second thigh and hocks, topline and well set tail.

2. Lacsar Beware of Darkness

   Black & Tan male with correct coat. well developed cheeks but lacking definite stop. good eye, could be deeper in the muzzle. Nice outline and tuck, good wither but could be tighter in elbows. Strong rear with good angulation.

LIMIT DOG (3, 1A)

1. Akai Hana Nori I at Janeryl (IMP)

   Pleasing red dog with good head and expression. A little wide in front and shoulders a little upright, sound rear, lovely coat, tail set and tail carriage.

2. Trixwood Vision of Both Ways

   Red dog with pleasing head and expression, good eye. Good forearm but slightly long in toes spoiling pastern.

OPEN DOG (7, 1A)

1. Vormund The Next Episode - DCC, BOS & RBIS

   Exquisite red male with minimal white markings. Broad flat skull, well developed cheeks with definite stop and slight furrow. Correct muzzle with good depth, tight lips and good pigmentation. Small tight dark eye of correct shape set well apart. Lovely front assembly flowing into well set ears. Strong withers and topline, tight elbows and good pasterns. Good rib. Good rear angulation and strong hocks used well on the move. Energetic gait. Beautiful outline. DCC which I understand made up up on the day.

2. Ken Go Shun’You Kensha (IMP) - RDCC

   lovely deep red dog with correct plush coat, one that I admired as a puppy (and still do). Lovely front, neck and forearm. Beautiful Shiba head, lovely eye shape, set and colour, thick triangular ears,good tail set and carriage. Moved well, just preferred rear angulation of (1).

1. Fuku No Kuromasa Go Junshinkyousou Vormund (IMP)

   Stylish, alert with beautiful outline that shouts Shiba! Lovely breed type, correct head, complete series of triangles.Good correctly set eye, good muzzle with depth and correct taper, good pigment. Tight front with lovely shoulder and forearm, tight elbows. Strong topline with correct spring of rib, and good rear. Lovely coat, double bow markings, beautifully presented, sound with light energetic movement.

1. Ch Vormund Jean Paul Gaultier - BVD & BVIS

   What a credit to his owner, 11 years old in superb condition. I have always admired this dog, lovely example of the breed and a worthy Champion who I considered for RCC on the day. Excellent coat, lovely true Shiba head and expression, correct front assembly leading to good forearm and correct pasterns. Correct shoulders and wither leading to lovely neck/ears. strong topline, good rib and quarters with correct stifle and strong hocks. Good tailset and carriage. Sound.

2. Vormund Heath Cliff

   9 years of age, very sound red male, pleasing type.

1. Afterglow Kiki - BPB & BPIS

   Well developed 6 months old red puppy bitch displaying all the desired breed characteristics. Lovely outline, pretty head, well developed cheeks and good ear set. Nice front with good fore chest, nice tight feet. Nice eye and pigment. Strong upper and second thigh, strong hocks, good tail set and carriage. Energetic and playful on the day, well handled.

2. Marilouvale Black Panther

   6 months old black & Tan bitch puppy with lovely front and outline. Pretty head and expression but has yet to grow into her ears. Good rib and underlines. Nice upper thigh and strong hocks, interesting to see how she develops.

   Lovely type, stylish Black and Tan B with lovely outlines. Correct front assembly (very natural), good rear, nice coat. A little lacking in markings. Nice rear angulation with good second thigh. Pleasing head and expression. Energetic movement and sound, well handled.

   Stylish Black and Tan B with lovely outline and exquisite head carriage and outline.good ear set flowing on from neck, lovely shoulder placement, good front, forearm and feet. Lovely top and underlines, good rib, beautiful coat, strong hocks, light energetic sound movement, one to watch!

2. Tiblha She’ra Queen of Shiba

   Pleasant red bitch, slightly barrel chested, not helped by her standing with her head back leaning into her shoulders. Sound on the move, would benefit from ringcraft and experience to get the best out of her.

YEARLING BITCH (3)

1. Vormund Camp Crystal Lake

   Pale red bitch, lovely breed type. Pleasing head and good expression, nice eye, shape, position and colour. Good front assembly, good wither and rib. Strong hocks, slightly over angulation but very sound on the move

2. Betty Achy I Ochy

   Red bitch, nice type but slightly heavy on the day which spoiled her outline. Nice coat, moved ok but would benefit from being leaner.

POST GRADUATE BITCH (4, 2A)

1. Marilouvale Esmeralda

   Sound pale red bitch with pleasing outline starting to lose her furnishings on the day. Nice breed type with nice head. Good front assembly, nice angulation front and rear, feet could be tighter.

2. Amivike’s Mia Magic at Jarshimar

   Red bitch with nice head and expression. Little wide on the front and feet could be tighter, she would benefit from shorter nails. Nice rear angulation, sound.

MID LIMIT BITCH (3)

1. Trixwood Goldeneye

   Pleasant well put together bitch with correct outlines. Good tailset, nice eye and expression. Her feet could be tighter. Sound.

2. Marilouvale Finding Dory

   Nice type with pleasing head, nice eye and expression, good coat, a little nervous on the day, not carrying her tail and over handled. I’m sure she will settle in time.

LIMIT BITCH (3)

1. Almolka I Predict A Riot

   Nice type with lovely head, nice eye and expression. Good front assembly, good wither and strong topline. Correct rear angulation, glowing with health a little too much on the day, sound.

2. Amivike’s Cos I Am Special Too

   Lovely breed type, good colour and correct coat. Nice front with good forearm. Weak in the hocks.

3. Jaidev’s Velvet Revolver

   Striking energetic red bitch with lovely outlines & style. Nice breed type with good front, forearm, good rib and topline. Nice rear, correct angulation. Good head, nice pigment and dark eye. Light and energetic on the move, sound.

2. Demishstar Rihoko at Marilouvale (IMP)

   Mature red bitch, nice type, chunkier than (1), pleasing head, lovely outline and sound. Nothing to fault with her but lacked panache.

   4 years old cream / white. Nice outline pretty head with acceptable pigmentation, good eye, little upright in the shoulder but nice outline, feet could be tighter, moved soundly.

1. Ch Koharu Go Ryuukyuu Uruma Vormund (IMP) - BCC & BIS

   This Is Special!! This exquisite bitch is a perfect example of the breed, and she genuinely took my breath away! Exquisite feminine Shiba head and expression in a perfect series of triangles, broad flat feminine skull, well defined cheeks, stop, good eye, pigment and strong jaw, tight lips. Beautiful front assembly, good forearm, cat like feet, good rib, top and underlines. Good strong rear thighs and hocks, good coat and tail set/carriage. Light, quick and energetic in her sound gait. Beautifully presented.

1. Ch Vormund Margot Robbie - RBCC

   A worthy breed champion. 5 year old red B, lovely striking breed type with lovely outlines. Good head, expression. Correct front, tight elbows & feet. Beautiful crest to neck flowing into ear set, good rib. Beautiful example of the breed. Very sound and expertly handled.

2. Ir Ch Lacsar Hershey Goes Again

   4 years old beautiful bitch with good coat and markings. Good head and expression. Good front and rear, striking outlines and well handled. I loved her, but just preferred the movement of (1) on the day.

VETERAN BITCH (7, 1A)

1. Amivike’s Super Minx ShCM - BVB & RBVIS

   7 and half year old super bitch, a credit to her owners. Red sesame with beautiful head and expression. Good eye, good front and shoulders leading into good topline and sound rear. Good tail carry. Feet could be tighter.

2. Ir Ch Steinark Stargazer at Lacsar

   8 years old pale red bitch with lovely head neck and shoulders. Nice sound rear angulation, well handled. Preferred movement of (1) on the day.
